In Honour of Sonya

Sonya is the queen of movie reviews. Brian and I just watched a couple movies just out on DVD, so I thought I would honour her with a quick review.Brian has been dying to see Slumdog Millionaire, but we were not in Whitehorse while it was in theaters, so we had to wait until the DVD release. We were not disappointed. It was such a fantastic movie. There were some parts with subtitles, but not many. It was also quite clean. A very enjoyable 2 hours.Seven Pounds was one I have been dying to see ever since I saw Will Smith in an interview on Oprah discussing the movie. It was a little confusing at first, but all was revealed by the end. It was a very moving picture. No, I didn't cry, but I did thoroughly enjoy it.

OCD???

Do you believe that dogs can have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)? If not, you may after this story:
We left for work this morning thinking that everything was normal in our lives. Apparently we were mistaken. After work we came home and were standing around talking. After a while Brian sat down at the kitchen table. However, he didn't sit in his usual chair, but in my chair at the opposite end of the table. Oscar came up to him and started barking. So Brian got up, checked his dish to make sure he had food and water and then sat back down. Oscar kept barking at him. Brian couldn't figure out what his problem was, but finally in exasperation he got up and moved to his regular chair. It was at this point that that the dog finally calmed down, went to his bowl and began to eat. He will usually go to his dish and eat whenever Brian sits at the table. As long as Brian is in the correct chair all is good in Oscar's world. At least I don't have to worry about Brian stealing my chair. Maybe it's the ideal diet plan for Oscar.

JOSH AND FRIENDS

I am finally getting around to posting pictures from Josh's birthday party. A great time was had by everyone. They ate loads of junk food and played video games until the wee hours of the morning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH

Today is Josh's 15th birthday. It's hard to believe that he is that old. It doesn't seem that long ago that he was just a babe in my arms (notice I didn't say "little babe"). LOL. One of my favourite Josh memories occured on his first day in Kindergarten. He came home mad as could be and announced "well, that was stupid! I didn't even learn how to read!"

FULL-BLOWN JEALOUSY

Sometimes the craziest things happen in this house. Tonight we had some friends over for dinner. They have a brand new baby who is just the sweetest little girl. Of course during dinner the baby started to fuss, so I picked her up while her mom ate. As soon as I had the baby in my arms Oscar was desperate to find out what was going on. He was jumping at my legs, trying as hard as he could to get up. We were laughing at him because he was just so crazy. However, it was nothing compared to when I passed the baby to Brian. Oscar almost went ballistic.He was panting and his little heart was beating a mile a minute. Finally we carefully watched while Oscar was put on the couch beside Brian and the baby. He was very curious - sniffing and poking at the baby. Finally he decided that the baby wasn't a huge risk to Brian. But he wasn't taking any chances. He lay right on Brian's legs, keeping a very close eye on things. I think Oscar was very relieved when they left with the baby. Oh the crazy things that dogs do. Isn't it great to be so loved?
