SUMMER 2011

Our summer vacation this year was comprised of a lot of visiting with family. We spent about a week in Grande Prairie with Naomi and Cory. Then we traveled on to Kamloops to visit with Hannah, Josh, and the rest of Brian's family. After that we spent a week in Kelowna with my parents and other family members. This was followed by 4 days in Burns Lake with Adele and Steve. We had a fantastic time with everyone and were sad to leave knowing we wouldn't see them for another year.
During our driving from one place to the next we did manage to stop for a little quiet time too. One of the stops we made was quite unexpected. We decided to stay for a night in Quesnel. We found a campsite right on Dragon Lake called Robert's Roost. It was a very nice spot. While we were there we rented kayaks and toured around the lake for a bit. Mostly we just took time to relax. Here is the view from the door of our camper.I have to include this picture here. This is the house I grew up in. As we drove through Decker Lake I snapped this picture. I have very fond memories of being there. After we left Burns Lake we were heading north. We stopped for 2 nights at Boya Lake Provincial Park located just before the Yukon border. This is the sight we woke up to in the morning:Life doesn't get much better than this. If you ever drive up the Stewart-Cassiar highway this campsite is a must.
We spent a day here going for a fantastic bike ride and taking a hike that led to another lake.
We arrived back home with a list of things we need to get done. First on the list - trim back the forest that has overtaken our yard.We have 4 weeks left together before I head to Vancouver. I'm sure it will fly by. Hopefully it will be filled with adventure.

BECOMING LEGAL

First of all, I must offer my sincere apologies that I am a day late with this post. Yesterday the internet at the campsite was very tentative and I was unable to post this. So, now on to the real reason for the post. It isn't every day that a person comes of legal age. Yesterday was Hannah's turn. Our beautiful daughter turned 19. Once again I look back over the years and wonder where the time has gone. On the night Hannah was born it was so hot in Kamloops that we were sleeping on the front lawn at my in-laws house. Naomi was snuggled into the sleeping bag between Brian and I and was noticing stars for the first time. Hannah was a delight from the moment she was born. She was not given to napping though - I would finally get her to sleep thinking I would have a couple hours while both girls were napping, and Hannah would be wide awake 10 minutes later. But we couldn't complain because she was always so happy. As she grew up she continued to be a source of joy, and occasionally frustration. The first time we took her to Disneyland she was too scared to go on any rides except "Jumping Jellyfish". We all took turns going on the ride over and over with her and she was thrilled. There are so many memories to look back on that I can't name them all here. Hannah, we are so proud of you. You are such a caring and giving person. You are all that we dreamed you would be. We love you more than you can imagine.
