How is it that my dreams aren't coming true. We have a lot of darkness up here right now and many chances to see stars. However, all my wishes are not coming true. We have no winter vacations planned. I guess I will just have to be satisfied with relatively short working days, weekends off and a paycheck every 2 weeks. At the present time we have hit another cold snap (-42) while Brian's parents are relaxing down in Mexico, Gary & Sonya are planning a trip to Mexico, Darlene & Garry are planning a trip to Mexico, a couple of co-workers are planning a vacation at spring break, and I just heard from Sharon and Pat that they went on a 2 week Caribbean cruise. Now, I ask you where is the justice in all this????? Actually I am not too jealous, just the thought of relaxing on a beach in winter is very tempting. Only 4 1/2 more years and all our kids will have graduated, then we will have the freedom to take vacations at spring break. That gives me 4 1/2 years to get this body into shape. In the meantime I will have to content myself with fabulous summer vacations - even if we don't go anywhere special we still get 12 weeks off work. Who could ask for anything more?

HOLDING IT TOGETHER
Here we are 1 week into the new year and I am still managing to hold to my resolution. Not bad, eh? I have been exercising and watching what I eat and I feel absolutely wonderful. I've starting tracking what I eat on a on-line food diary. It keeps track of my caloric intake and exercise. This is really helping me to stay focused and keep my calorie intake down. I need every tool and motivation I can get. I will weigh and measure myself again at the start of February. I am looking forward to some great results.

WHEW, I MADE IT!
I made it through the first week back at school. It ended up being harder than I anticipated because the teacher was away all week so I had the class by myself. Let me just say - after 3 days with 13 grade 1 and 2 students I am exhausted. But on the plus side - the count down is on. Only 6 1/2 weeks until spring break. The year is almost over. I love my job, but I am feeling kind of tired right now. Maybe I just need another vacation! LOL!

SURVIVING THE NEW YEAR
Well, our New Year's Eve celebration went well. At 8:00 I thought maybe it would just be us, but never fear by 8:30 our house was host to 9 teenagers. They all seemed to have a good time and ate copious quantities of food. I think we went through 3 batches of punch (all non-alcoholic of course). We only had an extra 3 stay over for the night - but believe me this was enough. We set off fire works at midnight. This was our first time with fireworks, so we were a little bit nervous. Now that we are pros we will have to plan something bigger and better for next year. Of course I headed off to bed asap, but the kids were pretty loud so it was hard to get any sleep. But I seem to be recovered now, so all is well. Tomorrow we have to head back to work again so no more relaxing for me.
New Year's Resolution - it is the same every year - I resolve to lose weight! On new year's day I watched an episode of "X-Weighted" and got totally motivated. So yesterday afternoon I got on the treadmill and started out on another journey of health. I just keep telling myself that I can do this. I only hope I will get fairly quick results to keep my motivation. I guess I will just have to picture myself looking extremely hot (not sweaty hot either) on the beaches of California this summer.
